From 0 to 100 - Together
The project “from 0 to 100 – together” is an intergenerational project. Its aim is to react to the need to rebuild active cooperation between the children and the elderly. This means to spend qualitative, healthy and creative time. The project will be implemented at the multiple locations in Ljubljana.
The goals of the project are:
-
strengthening the awareness of the intergenerational cooperation,
-
an inclusion of socially excluded, immigrants from different cultures,
-
demolishing taboos of ageing and getting to know the beauty of the ageing,
-
the development of creativity,
-
And the development of the sense of responsibility to yourself and to a community, primarily among youth and consequently in the whole community – with active participation, non-formal education, with widening the European awareness about equal opportunities and without discrimination of the individual or any group of people.
The project arose as an answer to the findings that in the today’s society there is an intergenerational gap, especially between the children/youth and the elderly. We are noticing that most of the time the children are by themselves, a lot of families (especially in the cities) don’t live with grandparents anymore. The children hardly have any connection with the elderly. Instead of playing with real friends they are playing with virtual friends. The computer games replaced the simple games. The children’s life is unhealthy.
The purpose of the Project is to merge the children and the elderly from different cultures into a common creations and integration with active participation, voluntary work, integrating youth with fewer opportunities with the aim to develop their own creativity, self-esteem and improve the relations between each other; To develop new skills and competencies and to become active citizens in a way to expand the awareness of the meaning of the cooperation and mutual help of different generations and to accept different cultures and tolerance.
Wider meaning of the project is shown in the connection of the local community. We will connect youngsters, primary schools and a Home for the elderly in the local community.
During the project, the small book will be written about the project, purpose and aim of the project and will also include pictures, impressions of the participants and information about the Youth in Action programme.
At the end of the project, we will issue a CD on which there will be a summarization of the project (pictures) and will serve as an example of the cooperation between generations in school, in the Homes for the elderly, local communities and on the internet.
The main theme of the project is to encourage young people that with active participation they can qualitatively manage their own time and to use the knowledge and experiences of the elderly, through intergenerational activities.
